Labour trade union act

The Registrar of Trade Unions is the authority charged with the duty of administering the provisions of the Act. In common parlance, Trade Union means an association of workers in one or more occupations. Its object is the protection and promotion of the interests of the working class. Trade Unions have a home grown philosophy based on workers' experience and psychology. It grows out of the workers' day-to-day experience.

A trade union is an organisation of workers who come together to fight for better working conditions. In India, the right to form a trade union is guaranteed under the Constitution and the functioning of trade unions are regulated by the Trade Union Act of 1926, which defines a union to be:
